Circumcision Surgery for Ontario Adults
Adult Circumcision is a focus area of the Gentle Procedures Clinics in the GTA.
No hospital visit or doctor’s referral is required.
Adult procedures are performed in a fully certified private operating room, located offsite.
Adult men come to our circumcision clinic from across Ontario and beyond.
With our effective anaesthesia, our quick surgical technique, and our use of skin glue, we provide a comfortable and convenient adult circumcision procedure for Canadian men.
Here is a summary of the adult circumcision process. In addition to the steps below adult circumcision clients will have a consultation and physical assessment in the clinic prior to booking their procedure. Based on their assessment, preoperative testing may be needed.
Anesthesia appropriate for each case will be administered, following which the circumcision is performed in a completely painless manner. The actual procedure is done in a few minutes.
Closure is performed with a proprietary surgical glue which can improve cosmetic outcome, decrease infection risk, and decrease bleeding risk.
You will be kept for observation by experienced staff post operatively, and released when you are ready and able. You are welcome to bring a snack and relax during this time.
A follow-up visit is required in the days after the operation for dressing changes, etc.
Somebody with sedentary work can return to their job within 48 hours. Surgery and follow-up visits are done in the comfort and privacy of our circumcision clinic. All supplies, dressings, analgesia, sick certificates, etc. supplied at no extra cost.
You will have access to our doctor’s 24 Hr. phone to answer any concerns.
There are a number of reasons why men may choose to get circumcised at an adult age.
Many men choose circumcision for cosmetic and personal reasons.
Whatever the reason for your choice to have circumcision later in life, we will be pleased to consult with you and schedule a surgery at your convenience.
With our skin glue closure method, in addition to the standard suture technique, we are able to obtain an improved cosmetic outcome without the typical multiple suture track marks in the skin. Our adult circumcision procedures offer optimal results with the least discomfort.
For more information, or to schedule to speak with our doctor, please contact us today. Appointments are generally available within a short time and no referral is required. Our experienced doctor offers circumcision for men of all ages.

All of the adult circumcisions performed at our Toronto adult circumcision clinic are paid for directly by the patient.

Getting Circumcised at Your Age
We are often asked; “Am I too old to get circumcised?” and the answer is pretty much always “no”. Men and youth of all ages have the surgery in our adult circumcision clinic.
The most common age range for adult circumcision is 18 – 40 years old, but the procedure is regularly performed on a larger age range as requested for medical and personal reasons.
The medical team at our clinic are experts at circumcising men of all ages, and we have collectively performed over 100,000 circumcision procedures in our affiliated clinics across Canada and around the world.
Our Toronto adult circumcision clinics in Mississauga and North York offer the advantage of being focused on circumcision procedures. Our internal processes are optimized to deliver a high quality of care to men requiring a circumcision.
The details below provide an overview of how your surgery will be performed and what to expect afterwards. You will receive detailed written instructions for post-surgery care as well as consult one-on-one with Doctor Sing.
Our team is available after surgery as required to answer your questions and to react quickly in the unlikely event that there are any problems. Our doctor will be reachable anytime in the days following your adult circumcision procedure. You will have his direct personal phone number.
Two follow up visits will be scheduled in advance so that we can observe your healing in the days immediately following your circumcision.
Before Adult Circumcision at our Mississauga Clinic
Your should fast at least 6 hours prior to your procedure time.
Please bring reading material or a mobile device with some headphones to stay distracted and calm while waiting for your circumcision.
Confirm the time and place of your procedure
Adult circumcision procedures are done in a level 3 operating theatre located externally to our main Toronto clinics.
You will have the address and details so please remember that the surgery will not be performed at the same location as your initial consultation.
Please reference the address provided rather than going to our clinic where you had your previous appointment. Thanks.
The procedure itself will take about 5-10 minutes once an appropriate level of anesthesia is achieved.
You will be kept for observation by experienced and caring staff until it is safe for you to leave.
Follow-up is required from one to three days after the operation for dressing changes and check-up.
After the Procedure
Your penis may swell in the first 2 days. It is generally not very painful, and over-the-counter pain relievers are all you usually need.
You will have a dressing over the head of your penis. Please follow the doctor’s directions about when to remove it. Wear snug fitting underwear that will hold the penis upright. This will help the swelling go down.
You can return to work and your normal routine when you feel ready to. Some men return to sedentary work as soon as 2 – 3 days after circumcision. You will need to wait longer before returning to physical work.
A detailed care sheet will be provided with specific instructions to follow after your operation. The information on this page gives you a general idea about how long it will take for you to recover, but each person recovers at a different pace. Follow the care instructions to heal as fast as possible.
The doctor will address your specific case and your detailed questions.
Post Circumcision Activity & Care – Adult Men – Gentle Procedures Mississauga
Rest when you feel tired. Getting enough sleep will help you recover fast. You may shower when you no longer have a bandage on your penis. Pat the cut (incision) dry. You may also take short baths if you wish.
Avoid strenuous activities, such as bicycle riding, jogging, weight lifting, or aerobic exercise, for 4 weeks or until your doctor says it is okay. You can return to work and normal activities, including driving, when you are comfortable doing them.
What to eat after circumcision as an adult.
You can eat your normal diet. If your stomach is upset, try bland, low-fat foods like plain rice, broiled chicken, toast, and yogurt. Drink plenty of fluids (unless your doctor tells you not to). There is no medical reason to change from your usual meals in the days after getting circumcised. You will likely prefer to eat at home at least for the first day or two to maximize your comfort.
Remove any dressing when your doctor says it is okay. Do this by soaking it off in a warm bath. Wear underwear that is comfortable for you. After the first few days, some men continue to prefer a snug fit for support, while others prefer loose-fitting briefs. Do what feels best for you.
Ice and elevation
Put ice or a cold pack on your groin for 10 to 20 minutes at a time. Try to do this every 1 to 2 hours for the first day. Put a thin cloth between the ice and your skin. Position your penis so that your underwear keeps it upright.
Sex After a Man’s Circumcision
Do not have intercourse or masturbate for 6 weeks, or until your doctor says it is okay. An occasional erection is not harmful as long as you leave it alone. Do not stimulate the penis.
Medications After Adult Circumcision
Your doctor will tell you if and when you can restart your medications. He will also give you instructions about taking any new medications.
If you take blood thinners, such as warfarin (Coumadin), clopidogrel (Plavix), or aspirin, be sure to talk to your doctor. He or she will tell you if and when to start taking those medications again. Make sure that you understand exactly what your doctor wants you to do.
Take pain medications exactly as directed. If the doctor gave you a prescription medication for pain, take it as prescribed. If you are not taking a prescription pain medication, ask your doctor if you can take an over-the-counter medication. It’s always better to ask the question if you are unclear.
Do not take two or more pain medications at the same time unless the doctor told you to. Many pain medicines have acetaminophen, which is Tylenol. Too much acetaminophen (Tylenol) can be harmful.
If you think your pain medicine is making you sick to your stomach:
Take your medicine after meals (unless your doctor has told you not to).
After your first week of taking it really easy you may resume regular activities as long as you are pain free, including sports or going to the gym. You should avoid any activity that puts pressure on the penis or scrotum for at least 3 weeks (biking etc.). No contact sports for 6 – 8 weeks.
Most adult circumcision patients find that there is minimal pain post operatively. Expect some mild discomfort after your procedure for a couple days just like with any surgery, after which there may be some discomfort during the first 2 weeks with nocturnal erections but they are generally mild and relieved with acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
